Witchcraft Dealt in Mystical Movies

Though witchcraft has been dealt variedly and widely in Hollywood mystic movies but they still didn’t delve into the true shades of witchcraft so far and as a result Hollywood has hardly taken the witches right! Funnily enough it has portrayed ‘witches’ in typical categories such as witches who are basically deserted, divorced or widowed possessing strong sexual or other exotic prowess and an air of confident independence, who often use spells, chants and rituals to seduce and charm that ‘perfect man ‘or to take revenge from the not-so-perfect-ones, such as in the movies like ‘The Witches of Eastwick’ and ‘Practical Magic’. In some other flicks a witch has been portrayed as a humorous and comical hag with pointed hats and crooked nose like in ‘Hocus Pocus’.

Another typical mystic film category deals with the history of ‘witch burning’ that took place during the Christian extermination of witches from 14th to 18th century Europe, giving it a much sinister and crude setting such as in the movie ‘The Crucible’ or ‘Joan of Arc’.

As a result, Hollywood forgets to portray witches in a less stereotyped and non-allegorical way, that can tell us about the actual witch lifestyle and mystic spirituality of Wicca.
